When translated meaning
‘Seafood, Shellfish, Food harvested from the sea’.
This kahu is a representation to the delicacy of kaimoana/seafood, enjoyed by many, which are frequently gathered in the shallow waters, off the coast of Aotearoa.
The vibrant rich colours are symbolic of Kina, Crayfish, Mussels, and Paua found sheltering amongst the nutrient rich Kelp beds in which they thrive.
Just a few of the deliciously bountiful kai/food resources that are revered when harvested to feed our families.
